Insignia Ventures PartnersTan Yinglan is the Founding Managing Partner of Insignia Ventures Partners.Prior to founding Insignia Venture Partners, Yinglan was Sequoia Capitals first hire in Southeast Asia. He sourced multiple investment opportunities for Sequoia including Tokopedia (where he served as Board of Commissioner), Appier (where he served as Board of Director), Gojek, Traveloka and Carousell. Yinglan had also been a member of the Singapore Administrative Service, where he served in a variety of positions in the Prime Ministers Office (where he was part of a team that managed a S$360 million fund for innovation and enterprise), Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Defence.He also serves on the Singapore Governments Pro Enterprise Panel and National University of Singapores Innovation & Enterprise Committee (where he is also an Adjunct Associate Professor). He serves on the Advisory Councils of the World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders, SUTD S.M.A.R.T Entrepreneurship Program, National Youth Achievement Award and Wealth Management Institute Global-Asia Family Office Partners Circle and serves on the International Board of stars – for Leaders of the Next Generation and Leap201.Yinglan has been named as Top 50 Fellows (ranked #3) in the Kauffman Fellows Fund Returner Index (2024), Finance Leaders Fellow (part of the Aspen Global Leadership Network) in 2024, a Forbes China 100 Most Influential Chinese (2023), Eisenhower Fellow (2018), World Economic Forum Young Global Leader (2012 – 2017), a WEF Technology Pioneer Selection Committee Panel (2015-2017), Top “40 leaders under 40” by Prestige Magazine (2015), Milken Institute Young Leaders Circle (2016 -2021); Milken Institute Chairman’s Circle (2022-2023), one of 100 Leaders of Tomorrow by the St Gallen Symposium (2010), 100 Global Thinkers (2011) by think-tank Lo Spazio della Politica, a World Cities Summit Young Leader (2014), a WEF Global Agenda Council member on Fostering Entrepreneurship (2011-2013), Board Member of Hwa Chong Institution (2013-2023) and a Kauffman Fellow (2012). Yinglan is author / co-author / editor of 5 books - The Way Of the VC (Wiley, 2009), Chinnovation (Wiley 2010) and textbook New Venture Creation - An Asian Perspective (Mcgraw Hill 2011) and Navigating ASEANnovation (World Scientific, 2020) and Backing the Bold: A Primer On Early-stage Venture Capital in Southeast Asia (World Scientific, 2022). Yinglan was educated at Stanford and Carnegie Mellon and completed executive programs at Harvard, Wharton and Oxford.
